5th Grade Rocks

Unbelievable! Sammy is almost through with 5th grade. Where does the time go. The last month has included some milestones! Graduating from Cub Scouts to Boy Scouts, final 5th grade Choir and moving in band for next year...

Abby is finishing up 2nd grade. She and 5 of her friends have tried out and made it in the talent show. They are dancing to Hannah Montana Hoe Down Throw Down. She's making straight A's and a complete joy!

Abby Quote of the Week

So Abby was watching a movie with me during the ice storm...the couple on the screen was, ummmmm well "kissing".

Abby asked, "Why do people Chinese kiss?"

I said, "You mean, French kiss."

She followed up with, "What? French Toast?"

You gotta love 8 year olds!

The Ice Man Cometh

The ice decided to stay around. Another day home for all 4 of us. I have to admit, it's been fun. Those of you warm, enjoy!

Let the Rain Fall Down

We have ice...oh yeah! You know it's a lot when our offices close. I've been at MARS for 3 years now and NEVER have the offices closed for weather. But here I sit, in my PJ's, lap top in lap, remote on ready...sending emails to clients at 6:30 in the morning. And oh yes, conference calls will go on.

So snow day...I must say, we never had one growing up in Florida. There was the one time we experienced the "hurricane" day but never a snow day.

When I was a stay at home mom, the snow day meant so much more...everyone sleeping in, kids playing and resting all day, homemade breakfast from a pan on the stove and not the toaster, children begging to layer up and go outside. Now it means, uh oh! Plans B, C and D....activate - shape of a babysitter, form of a basket full of video games and snacks to take to the babysitter. Am I the only working mom that hates this feeling? OHHHH the guilt.

Those were the days...I hope to get them back eventually! Guess I'd better hurry, that rain is coming to quickly these days.

Ahh Memories

Are you on Facebook? If you aren't, you should be. I can not believe all the people I am in touch with again. This past week, 2 friends from elementary school became part of the elite group that is my Facebook Friends. OK, so not so elite. It's pretty much open to those that breathe. But I digress...I feel like I've been given a gift every time I log on to FB and see a friend request or friend has accepted my request.

I've been away from Milton, FL since 1985. I haven't seen these girls in 20+ years. Oddly enough, I found a 4th grade class picture this week and sure enough, they were in my class. I never thought I would see these girls again and here we are, talking multiple times in the last 7 days. By the way...can you find me in the pic?

My husbands "ahem" class reunion is this year. He has been connecting with friends he hasn't spoken to in years. (Once again, I will not say the years for I was barely out of diapers...he-he) Again with the digression. Basically, he's having a blast reconnecting.

Do you think this is what heaven will be like? Reconnecting with all these people has brought me such happiness! I can hardly imagine how my Facebook in heaven will make me feel. Oh yes friends, I do believe there will be FB in heaven...

So if you want to make my day...friend me or let me know you're out there. I'll friend you and we'll all be friends together, 20+ years later or the ever after!

Welcome 2009

Unbelievable! 2009 already. We just rang in 2008 a few months ago. Is time really moving this quickly? The babies are growing and coming into their own. Everyone says they are not babies but they will always be babies to me. If you're a mom, you know what I mean, don't cha?

So we rang in the new year with friends from our church. It was so fun. I learned a new dice game and won $1000. Just kidding, I didn't really win any money. But the dice game is fun.

I've been inspired to find my inner Cammy Jo again. The one that had people over all the time, that kept a clean/organized home, the one who didn't bump into stuff in the middle of the night because it was put away. You know the fun one. So my buddy Lea Ann Fipps came over and kicked me into gear. We deep cleaned the kitchen today. I can hardly move. However, I'm finding the strength to smile at the progress! I've already done the master closet and laundry room. It won't be long now before folks will be coming over and playing the new dice game I learned. I'll eventually remember the name.

Happy 2009...
